Jonathan Ive Talks About Apple's Success

In a short and sweet article at Business Week's website, Jonathan Ive lays out, in typical apple simplicity, the keys to Apple's success.

The main takeaway for executives looking to try and copy Apple’s success? Don’t. Instead, Ive said forcefully and repeatedly, companies need to define their own clear, high-minded raison d’être. That should drive the actions and decisions of every employee, from the C-suite down.

Interestingly enough—and this may have been clear to everyone but me—Ive says "Apple's goal isn't to make money. Our goal is to design and develop and bring to market good products."  They believe that customers will like those products and in turn make them money.  The dough is a side effect.  Their emphasis is on better products, not new and different products.

Head over and read it for yourself.  I found it très intéressant.
